Riders strip off to raise road safety awareness

Riders are stripping off in the hope of inspiring drivers to slow down when passing horses.

Naked

Horse riders are sharing their snaps online with the hashtag #willyouslowdownformenow, which was started by the Slow Down For My Horse Campaign Facebook page.

Dozens of riders – male and female – have already posted photos of them posing naked or in their underwear, along with their horses.

Younger equestrian fans are being told to remain fully clothed – but to join the campaign by posting pictures of themselves holding a sign with the hashtag.

Campaign

The Facebook campaign was started by 19-year-old Lauren De Grucy from Jersey.

“Absolutely overwhelmed by how far this‪#‎willyouslowdownformenow‬? Campaign has gone!” she wrote on her Facebook page yesterday.

Fortunately most people have stayed away from the roads while posing for their photo – although one rider managed to strip down to their underwear while still wearing hi-vis.

The campaign has attracted a few negative comments, while other riders are fully in support. “It’s a light hearted way to bring up a serious and growing problem and if it makes people look, then all the better,” commented one Facebook user.
