David Hunter has resigned from his role as GB para-equestrian dressage performance manager and chef d’equipe.

Unprecedented success

According to British Equestrian Federation chief executive Andrew Finding, David has been planning to give up the job for some time, but agreed to stay on until after the European Championships.

David has managed the squad through three Paralympic Games, four World Championships and five Europeans.

“Under his leadership, the team has enjoyed a period of unprecedented success and has exceeded its medal targets, including winning team gold, at all of those events,” said Andrew. “We wish him all the very best for the future.”

David said he loved working with the team and has made many number friends during his 13 years in the job.

Excel in Rio

“I shall be sorry to leave, but I came to the difficult conclusion that now was the right time to move on and pursue other goals and interests and to allow sufficient time for someone else to steer the team to further success at Rio next year,” he said.

“The GB Para Dressage squad is in a great position to excel in Rio next year and by my leaving now it will give my successor plenty of time to settle into the role.’’
