Two horses dead after A3 smash

Two horses have died and four people are in hospital with “serious injuries” following a road accident early this morning (16 December).

Life threatening

Four vehicles, which included a motorcycle transporting blood, collided with two horses loose on the southbound carriageway of the A3 in Esher, Surrey.

The drivers were taken to St Georges Hospital in Tooting, South London. The two horses died at the scene and the road was closed for several hours.

South East Coast Ambulance Servicewho attended the scene told H&C one woman had what was believed to be “life threatening injuries” to her head and chest. The three other drivers all suffered serious head injuries.

Blood bank

Police found out that the blood was due for delievery at Frimley Park Hospital near Camberley and made sure it arrived safely and on time.
