British squad announced for Nations Cup Final

The British squad for the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Final in Barcelona has been announced.

World Class showjumping performance manager Di Lampard is taking virtually the same team that competed in last month’s Europeans. The only change is Guy Williams and Titus II , who have been replaced with Laura Renwickand Bintang II.

The gelding, who is owned by Laura and her husband John, is still only nine years old, but has already proved himself at top level.

Joining Laura are Ben Maher(Diva II), Michael Whitaker(Cassionato), Jessica Mendoza(Spirit T) and Joe Clee (Utamaro d’Ecaussines), who helped Britain secure Olympic qualification last month in Aachen.

Jo and the stallionUtamaro came 15th at the Europeans, which was the best British individual result.

The Furusiuua FEI Nations Cup Final takes place at the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona 24 – 27September 2015. A total of eighteen teams have qualified from Europe, North America, South America, the Middle East, Asia/Australasia and Africa.

They will be joined by Spain, who automatically is awarded a place as the host nation.

The final consists of three competitions. The top eight teams from the opening class will go forward to the third and final competition. The remaining teams will compete in the Challenge Cup.
