Lucinda Green heads line up at Eventing Forum

Eventing legend Lucinda Green is heading the line-up at next year’s 2016 International Eventing Forum (IEF).

Invaluable insights

The six-time Badminton winner is now a world renowned cross-country trainer. Her session entitled ‘Forward to the Past’ will no doubt provide attendees with invaluable insights into successful event riding.

The day kicks off with a talk by former eventer Angela Tucker, who completed Badminton seven times and rode for Britain in the European Championships. Angela now trains and produces young horses and is a list two dressage judge.

Joining her for the session entitled ‘What Doesn’t Change?’ will be Olympic medalists Pippa Funnell and Tina Cook.

Back to the Future

The theme of the 2016 forum is ‘Back to the Future’, looking at how eventing has remained relatively unchanged over the years, despite adpating to suit today’s horse and rider.

“The focus will be on the qualities, thoughts and principles that riders, trainers and event organisers can bring with them that do not need reinventing and which will help us all with the sport of eventing today and tomorrow,” said Eric Smiley, one of the founders of the forum.

Other sessions include ‘An Eventful Story’ by three-time USA Olympian Jimmy Wofford, and ‘The Use and Effect of Studs’ with experts Andrew Mahon and John Killingbeck.

The Helpful Coach

Alongside leading equestrians, a golfer will offering advice. David Kearney is a member of the Professional Golfers Association and a coach and mentor to many professional and amateur golfers. David’s session ‘The Helpful Coach’ will draw on the many similarities between golf and eventing, where the coach has to prepare the student.

The 2016 IEF takes place at Hartpury College on 1 February from 10am to 5pm.
