Event rider Chris Burton has set two new records at the Camphire International Horse Trials.

Lowest score

According to eventing analysts Equiratings, the Australian Olympic rider now holds the record for lowest overall finishing score overall and lowest dressage score in a CCI2*.

Burton’s own Santano II scored 24.5, the lowest finishing score of any international class since 2010, and picked up no additional penalties during the cross-country or showjumping phases of the competition during the Castleacre Insurance CCI2*.

He then galloped into second place with Irish gelding Cooley Lands, with New Zealander Jesse Campbell taking third on her gelding, Cleveland.

Top form

Chris continued his form by winning Camphire’s feature class, the GAIN/Alltech CIC3*, with his own Noblis 18. The pair finished on a final score of 49.1pen.

Second place went to Irish junior gold medallist Cathal Daniels on the chestnut mare Rioghan Rua.
