Cam has home for life with pony-mad sisters

A rescue pony has a home for life with two pony-mad sisters who claim it was ‘love at first sight’.

Handsome boy

April Griffiths and her daughters Ella and Amber first met Cam at Your Horse Live, where he was looking for a new home.

“It was love at first sight when we all saw Cam,” said April. “But not for one minute did we think we would be able to get him – he’s such a handsome boy we knew hundreds would be after him.”

Cam wasn’t such as stunner when he was first arrived atBlueCross as a thin, neglected one-year-old. He also had a respiratory infection and was wary of people.

Wild welfare case

“Within a short time Cam went from wild welfare case, to normal youngster,” said BlueCrosshorse care groom Clare Davey. “This was partly due to all the training he has received but also the fact that he is naturally inquisitive and has a willingness to please. “

Cam went to a short-term loan home where he was able to socialise with other youngsters, and them came back toBlueCross.

“He came on really quickly and was very willing to learn,” said Claire. “We taught him to work both in the school and out hacking and even introduced him to jumping.”

Cam was an obvious choice to take to the Your Horse Live event, at Stoneleigh to promote the charity’s welfare work and to also try and find a new home.

Home for life

April already had a pony called Tess but was on the look out for another for her daughters so they could ride together.

“We couldn’t believe it whenBlueCrossgot in touch to say we could go and try him,” said April. “Ella rode him in the school the first time then went back to hack him out and the love was set it stone!

“He will be looked after along with Tess for rest of his life, as when I get animals I can’t let them go.”
