The El Remanso Pony ClubPoloChampionships at Cowdray Park in West Sussex (7-9 August) featured some of the hottest young players in the UK.

Family affair

The Championshipshosted the annual finals for both the Pony ClubPolosections, as well as the HurlinghamPoloAssociation (HPA) British JuniorPolosections for the Hipwood Trophy (under-15), Buckmaster Trophy (under-18) and John Cowdray Trophy (under-21).

Sunday’s finals saw the Cotswold Hunt take on the Old Surrey and Burstow in the fast-paced Gannon section. The Cotswold Hunt won by 7-6, with a team that was very much a family affair, made up of the three siblings with Jack, Ollie and Tommy Severn playing alongside their cousin Oscar Luard.

‘Lot of fun’

South Berkshire won the Surtees Cooper Cup; Grafton Hunt took the title in the Loriner Hillingdon Hall Cup; the Heythrop Hunt went home with the Langford HurlinghamChampion Cup; and the Frank Rendell Cup went to the Vine Hunt.

The Handley Cross section – for those aged nine to 14 – was won by the Cowdray Hunt team, comprised Alfie Hyde, Freddie Cooper, Christoph Weissberg and Beanie Bradley.

“It was a lot fun in the final!” said Beanie. “We have a brilliant coach who is very encouraging and patient and our spotty ponies really help!”

“Our new sponsors El Remanso were incredibly generous and we are grateful to have their continuing sponsorship into 2016; thanks must also go to The HurlinghamPoloAssociation and ThaiPolofor their additional support.”
