His career achievements outshine most ‘slebs who decide to publish the story of their lives. In fact, his list of titles surpass most athletes – equestrian or otherwise.

Valegro currently hold three world records, European, World and Olympic titles, two World Cup titles – following his recent win in Las Vegas – and now the dressage legend has Rio in his sights.

Frankly we’re surprised they’ve fitted it all into one book.

Suitably titled Valegro: Champion Horse the biography will be published in hardback with up to 250 photographs, some of which have never been seen before.

Dressage history

His story is told by his owner and trainer Carl Hester, who is the one responsible for partnering Valegro with his then groom Charlotte Dujardin. The rest is dressage history – and hopefully the future as it doesn’t look like the invincible duo is readen to be beaten just yet.

The book will be launched at the National Dressage Championships (17-20 September), and includes a foreword by Zara Phillips MBE.
