Spruce Meadows was opened in 1975 by the Southern family — a family with a dream to change the equestrian scene in Calgary at the time, and, against all the odds, the venue has grown today into a 500-acre complex that is one of the premier international showjumping centres in the world. Get first-hand insights from the family and competitors into how understanding of the complexity of showjumping has grown thanks to this iconic venue, a favourite with some of the most successful riders in the world.
