On your marks

Despite a swing of some 9% between the lowest (73.7%) and highest marks (82.9%) the pair received from the judges, all five were unanimous in giving the pair first place with a final score of 78.68%. Rath and Totilas were the only combination to be given more than 80% from any of the judges.

In second was Jennie Larsson from Sweden, riding Zircoon Spring Flower, who finished nearly 8% behind Totilas on 70.760%.

It was a good day for Matthias, who also won the Prix St Georges on his other ride, Bretton Woods.

Best Brit

There were two British riders competing in Belgium. The highest placed of these was Daniel Sherriff, who came fifth on Bayford Hall Dallaglio.

Emile Faurie finished in 19th place on Topolino.
