Showjumping legends – including an Olympic gold medallist and five members of the Whitaker family – are set to take centre stage at this year’s Equestrian.com Liverpool International Horse Show.

Britain’s leading lady rider, Laura Renwick, is among equestrians competing in the show at the city’s Echo Arena from 31 December until 2 January.

Laura, who celebrates her birthday on the opening day of the three day spectacular, will be jumping with horses normally ridden by her friend and fellow showjumper, Yazmin Pinchen. Yazmin is missing this year’s event as she is expecting a baby.

Laura will be joined by top equestrians from across the globe, including London 2012 Team GB gold medallist and Rolex Grand Slam winner, Scott Brash. The Whitaker family will also be out in force, with multiple major championship performers Michael and John, Nations Cup regular Robert and the family’s two fastest rising stars, Joe and Jack, all attending.

The defending Liverpool Grand Prix champion Billy Twomey is also confirmed, along with Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano and Piergiorgio Bucci, and Germany’s Philipp Weishaupt.

“It was a super show last year – a huge success. The support was brilliant in a fantastic arena,” said Laura.
