Team Cartier hat-trick in Snow Polo World Cup
Team Cartier has won the Snow Polo World Cup in St Moritz, Switzerland, for the third consecutive year (1 February).
Frozen lake
It was an out-and-out win for the British-Australian team, who beat Team BMW by 10 goals to 2.5. Five of the winning goals came from Chris Hyde, Europe’s highestever handicapped arena polo player at 9 goals.
Hyde was joined by Australian team captain Jonathan Munro Ford and two English teammates Max Charlton and Jamie Morrison.
Now in its 31st year, the Snow Polo World Cup is the world’s only high-goal snow polo tournament. It is played on the frozen lake of St. Moritz and attracts around 12,000 spectators.
Glamorous event
Following the polo was a suitably glamorous evening event, with a Snow Polo Night in the Badrutt’s Palace.
There was a fashion show, with a few of the younger polo players strutting their stuff on the catwalk, and a gala dinner.
