Summer still feels a very long way off, so let Horse & Country take you to warmer climes with the 2018 Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT).

Battle of the giants

The series kicks off this weekend in Mexico City (23-25 March) with the biggest names in showjumping ready to battle it out for big money.

Riders in the opening event include former LGCT champions, Edwina Tops-Alexander and Scott Brash, who are currently the only riders to win the title twice.

They will be joined by the likes of Michael Whitaker, Bertram Allen, Simon Delestre – who recently won the Hermès Grand Prix – Christian Ahlmann, Steve Guerdat, Marcus Ehning and Martin Fuchs, who won the LGCT Grand Prix in Mexico last year.

Unique competition

As well as the prestigious individual championship, there is the Global Champions League, which is now in its third year. This unique competition sees riders from different countries team up and compete for valuable league points. The top 16 teams then go forward to the GC Playoffs in Prague in December.

Mexico is the first of 17 glamorous locations, which include Monaco, Miami Beach, Shanghai, Rome and London. This year the event returns to the Royal Hospital Chelsea in the heart of the capital city.

You can watch all 17 events on Horse & Country as we are showing highlights of the Longines Global Champions Tour and Global Champions League, plus other feature classes.
