Show cob Our Cashel Blue, ridden by top producer Allister Hood, was judged supreme horse at HOYS on Sunday.

With the week’s champions going forward to the judging of the Ripon Select Foods Supreme Horse of the Year on the final evening, Allister was in with a very good chance having already won three championships at the show.

He opted to ride Caroline Tyrrells’ lightweight cob in the final, while his son Oliver partnered the Riding Horse Champion, Diamonds Are Forever.

“He loves the crowd and attention, and stands like a rock,” said Allister about the seven-year-old gelding, who had stood Supreme Cob Champion at the Longines Royal International Horse Show earlier this summer.

“There was such a fantastic atmosphere in there tonight. We even got applauded when we walked in.”

In the Ruckleigh School Supreme Pony of the Year Championship, riding pony champion Litton Enterprise took the title.

Joanne Price’s 10-year-old bay gelding was ridden by Joanna’s daughter Phoebe.

“It’s all a big blur. I was just focusing on him, and making sure he went well. It’s my biggest achievement,” said 14-year-old Pheobe.

The Price family have owned the pony for two years and he is produced by Julie Templeton.
