Scott Brash victorious again in Cannes

Britain’s Scott Brash brought home a magnificent win from the latest leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour.

The eighth round of the competition was held last weekend in the glamorous French Riviera setting of Cannes with eight of the top ten riders in the world were in action.

Scott Brash reigned supreme in a fast-paced battle of equestrian mastery. Four of the fastest riders on the circuit went against the clock in the jump-off with Scott the last to run.

With his 10-year-old horse Hello Forever Brash cleared every pole with precision and style. Completing with a time of 37.98sec Scott took his second victory at a Cannes Grand Prix the last being in 2014.

“My horse gave everything – he tries his hardest ” said Scott “I hope we get more wins in the future.”

Standings

Australian rider Edwina Tops-Alexander took second with Lintea Tequila while Germany’s Daniel Deusser upheld strong results to finish third with Equita Van’t Zorgvliet.

The mighty Christian Ahlmann of Germany still dominates the leaderboard followed by Edwina Tops-Alexander and Bertram Allen at third in the current standings.

Aces

Meanwhile packed grandstands saw twelve teams battle it out for the Cannes’ leg of the Global Champions League resulting in a sensational win for Monaco Aces. Staying clear all the way through their win saw them seize the overall ranking lead.

Dutch pair Maikel van der Vleuten and Leopold van Asten riding VDL Groep Quatro and VDL Groep Miss Untouchable respectively took the lead for Monaco Aces giving the only two double clears of the competition.

“I was getting very nervous – I prefer to ride than to watch!” said Leopold.

The Paris Jets came in second with Cascais Charms in third place.

Monaco Aces sit at the top of the leaderboard with 190 points overall while former long-time leaders Valkenswaard United drop to second place with 184 followed by Rome Gladiators with 180.
