Ryan Moore scores Guineas double

The first two Classics of the Flat racing season both went to jockey Ryan Moore, with his first victory in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket followed 24hrs later with a win in the 1000 Guineas.

Go Gleneagles

The pre-race favourite Gleneagles got Moore’s Classic weekend underway by landing the Qipco 2000 Guineas, finishing two-and-a-quarter lengths clear of Territories.

Gleneagle’s win gave Irish trainer Aiden O’Brien his seventh victory in the 2000 Guineas.

“His form was top class and he only does what he has to do,” said the trainer afterwards.

Ladies’ day

The following day saw the fillies’ Classic, the Qipco 1000 Guineas, when Moore piloted Legatissimo (13/2) to victory.

TheDavid Wachman-trained filly finished three-quarters of a length ahead of favourite Lucida.
