It was a bumper weekend of competition for British Eventing’s, with the Baileys Jump Training Championships preceding the Jumping and Stylefinals at Hartpury College (21 – 22 Febuary).

JT100 final

Part-time science teacher Southerly Roberts won the JT100 Title riding Fizz IV, with a score of 6.5pen.Southerly regularly competes in the Jump Training series with the young horses she produces.

“You can put them under a bit of pressure, but in a situation where if something goes wrong, you have back up at hand,” she said.

Kathryn Carmody and Mr Wesley took the runner up spot, with Rosie Bates third riding Dot 2 Dot III.

JT90 final

Earlier in the day, Southerly and Fizz came second in the JT90, with the 39-year-old teacher also taking third place onboard Broomells May Marjoram.

The JT90 Championship title went to last year’s JT80 winner Betty Baker. This year the 13-year-old was riding Tallyho Charlie.

“We are so pleased with Charlie’s performance today,” said Betty. “I think a lot of his improvement is down to the fact that we used the vouchers we won last year training with Christie Wright, as well as going to U18 camps. I will do more of the same with the vouchers I have won today.”

JT80 final

The JT80 final was won by Hattie Grace riding Charlie Chan. The pair finished five points clear of runners up Jen Clements riding Mowgli, with Jane Bettles and Gold Rush IV in third.

“We’ve only had Charlie Chan for five months, and I have used Jump Training to build our confidence; we’ve never evented before,” said Betty. “The plan is to start him in a BE80, and see how we progress.”
