Nicola Wilson is offering her support to Sense, the official charity of this year’s Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials.

Sense stables

Sense helps people of all ages who are both deaf and blind. Nicola became ambassador for the charity in 2012 after she was inspired by the work carried out by the Sense Stables.

It is the only equestrian centre in the UK which has been adapted to support people with sight and hearing impairments.

“Deafblindness can add many barriers in life, but the Sense Stables are a unique educational centre that helps people to engage with horses, be part of a team and feel truly independent,” said Nicola, who will be competing at Badminton this coming weekend. “I’m thrilled to lend my support.”

Full lives

The charity will also be attending Badminton, to fundraise and increase awareness of deafblindness.

“The money raised will help us support people with sight and hearing impairments, enabling them to live active and full lives and enjoy some of the things most people take for granted,” said Richard Kramer, Sense deputy CEO.

Badminton Horse Trials take place from Wednesday 6 May to Sunday 10 May 2015.
