Lucinda Fredericks sells top horse Flying Finish
Lucinda Fredericks has sold her top horse Flying Finish, on whom she competed at the London 2012 Olympics.
‘So sad’
Lucinda said she is “so sad” to say goodbye to the horse that has been her top ride for the past three years.
“Flying Finish’s sale has been very important towards securing my and Ellie’s future at Rosegarth as our home and training base,” she explained.
Lucinda set up her own business following her divorce from Clayton Fredericks, which saw him relocate to Florida. She stayed atRosegarth inWiltshire, with their 11-year-old daughter, Ellie.
London Olympics
Flying Finish was bought over from Germany in 2009 by amateur rider Donal Reid, who intended to compete him at one-star level. However, Lucinda who was training him took over the ride in 2010.
Two years later the pair came second at Vairano CIC3* and also in the four-star at Luhmuhlen, which saw them selected for the London Olympics.
Shortly after, Lucinda bought the 12-year-old gelding with the help of Richard Ames.
New partnership
“I will always be very grateful to Richard Ames for stepping in to help me keep the ride on Flying Finish soon after the Olympics, we have had a lot of fun and success over the last few years,” said Lucinda.
“Flying Finish will now be ridden by Caroline Powell, who is an amazing cross-country rider. I am honoured that she has taken him on, it will be exciting to see the new partnership competing next season.”
Caroline has already competed Flying Finish– coming sixth in the intermediate at Allerton Park in September.
Another sale
As well as having to sell Flying Finish, Lucinda has lost the ride on her advance horse MR Sydney Rocks. He was owned by Tim and Alice Page, who sold the horse to American eventer Allison Springer.
“Iknow that the Page’s could have sold this horse to a lot of different people, andappreciate them trusting me with his future,” saids Allison. “I also can not say enough good things about the training he has had to date, as he has truly been brought up by some of the best ridersin the world.”
Tim and Alice have since bought another horse, Rambo, for Lucinda to produce.
