Knights go in to battle at Arundel Castle

Arundel Castle in West Sussex is to host to the world’s biggest international joustingcompetition.

Highest honour

Now in its eighthyear, the JoustingandMedievalTournament Week welcomes four teams of knights from all around Europe and some from as far as the USA.

Individual knights will also compete for induction into theOrder of Arundel – the highest honour a knight can receive in the UK.

The Burgundian Alliance return this year to defend their 2014 title. However England will also be on fighting form, hoping to achieve their sixth win in the competition.

Tightly contested

Castle manager Bryan McDonald said: “We are thrilled to be hosting theJoustingandMedievalTournament Weekonce again. This event truly is the highlight of our open season for our Castle visitors, and for our staff.

“Each competitor would be a worthy champion, such is their skill and commitment to the sport, and given last year’s surprise winners, I feel that this year will be the most tightly contested event to date.”
