Kent Farrington victorious in Hamburg

US rider Kent Farrington has won the Longines Global Champions Tour (GCT) Grand Prix in Hamburg, Germany.

Tough course

A tough course saw top combinations leave the competition after the first round, including Scott Brash and Hello Sanctos, who had an uncharacteristic eight faults.

Kent and Voyeur were one of five combinations to produce three double clears. Buoyed by his recent success in Shanghai, where he won three classes, Kent galloped home in the final round in a time of 48.97sec to win the class.

Philipp Weishaupt was second on Chico (49.22sec), riding on home turf, while Sweden’s Rolf-Goran Bengtsson came third riding with his stallion Casall (50.11sec).

Pressure

The pressure was on Nicola Philippaerts, who was riding for the class sponsor H&M, but the young rider delivered his third clear round to come fourth (50.96sec).

This latest result seesKent Farrington move up into fourth place in the GCT rankingson 92 points.Luciana Diniz is the current leader with 125 points, Pius Schwizer is second on 110 points, and Scott Brash is third on 105.
