Jessica Springsteen has won the Queen’s Cup at CSIO Barcelona, after a thrilling 18-strong jump-off.

Scope and speed

It was a hugely competitive class with 18 combinations jumping clear in the first round. However, Jessica and the 12-year-old RMF Swinny du Parc showed scope and speed to produce an unbeatable clear in a time of 38.04sec.

Riding into second place was Belgium’s Pieter Devos and Gin D on 38.36sec. Ireland’s Michael Duffy was third with the nine-year-old gelding Chappo Chey.

Nations Cup Final

Michael had the disadvantage of being second to go against the clock, but set an excellent target with a clear in 38.52sec to take an early lead. He then dropped to third place.

It was a good week for Ireland, who also came third in the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup Final. It was a tightly fought contest, with Belgium taking the title ahead of France in second place.
