Ian Stark joined World Horse Welfare at theMitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials to talk horse safety with British Eventing’s National Safety Officer, Jonathan Clissold and Badminton Horse Trials vet, Richard Hepburn.

Safety first

The documentary film by World Horse Welfare explores how British Eventing data collated over time has helped to improve safety, how vet services are as important as the event itself and just how much thought and preparation goes into horse welfare and safety at events like Badminton.

Vet Richard Hepburn also explains about the structure of the medical services provided for competing horses at the three-day event.

With three-time Badminton winner Ian Stark fronting the film, viewers can gain an insight into how a top eventing champion would jump the fences as he expresses his feelings on some of the questions.

Horses in sport

The film underlines World Horse Welfare’s support for the responsible use of horses in sport and experience as independent welfare advisor to the FEI and British Horseracing Authority that safety measures need not detract the spectacle from sporting events.
