Hundreds of riders head to BRC championships
More than 550 competitors took part in the British Riding Clubs (BRC) Animalife National Horse Trials Championships at Swalcliffe Park Equestrian in Oxfordshire (1-3 August 2014).
Winners
Over the three days, BRC hosted two HT80 one-day events – which included a new class for juniors – two HT90 two-day events and three HT100 and 100+ three-day events.
The inaugural BRC HT 80 was won by 14-year-old Laila Bedawi from Findon RC in Aberdeenshire. Laila scored 29 onboard Sherbet, a 14.2hh Palomino who is her first pony.
Shrewsbury and District RC won the senior team HT 100 Championship with a total score of 87.5 – despite their pathfinder and club chairman Nick Furniss, taking a tumble on the cross-country.
Winner of the Carefree Trophy, which is awarded to the highest placed homebred horse, went to Louise Knock riding Tullamore Dew. Louise who is from Malton and Distict RC competed in the senior HT 100+ Championship, finishing third on a score of 29.5.
