A horse found collapsed in Sidcup in Kent was found in a critical condition, having been dumped on a golf course.

The piebald cob was discovered by a member of the public on 16 November, on the edge of Cray Valley Golf Course. He was in such a bad condition it was first thought he was dead.

“As we approached him, he weakly lifted his head, so we had a chance to save him,” explained RSPCA inspector Ellen Thomas.

Struggling to move as he was so weak, the animal, now named ‘Bumble’, was led to a horse box where he was taken a vet. “It seems he was dying of thirst. He may have been lying there for two days,” said inspector Thomas.

Bumble was said to be in a critical but stable condition, and there are hopes he will make a full recovery.

“It seems likely he had been dumped there and left to die in this very secluded spot,” said inspector Thomas. Anyone with information about how this horse came to be abandoned is urged to call the RSPCA on 0300 123 8018.
