The Germans put on a fine display in Waregem in Belgium to win the second to last leg in the FEI Nations Cup Eventing series, narrowing the gap on the overall leaders Great Britain.

Beating Team GB by 10pen, Germany claimed their fourth win in the series. Stephanie Böhe led throughout and took the individual honours with Haytom to make it a superb weekend for the Germans.

The British riders – Izzy Taylor, Laura Collett, Tom Jackson and Jodie Amos – made an impressive climb up the leaderboard after producing four clear cross-country rounds. Izzy Taylor and Trevidden were the only combination to finish inside the optimum time on the Belgium course.

France took third spot, finishing on a total score of 202.4pen, and their best performance came from Caroline Chadelet with Kadessia who climbed from 22nd after dressage to third following a fast cross-country time.

Next month’s decider in Boekelo in The Netherlands is proving wide open with the top three teams – Germany, Great Britain and France – all in the running. Britain has a five point lead in the rankings and will be the only team to have contested in more than seven legs this season.

The final in Boekelo will take place 6-9 October; visit the FEI Nations Cup Eventing series hub here.
