This year all eyes in the equestrian world will be on the FEI European Championships, held in Rotterdam and Luhmühlen. They take place from 19 August to 25 August 2019.

This year Team GB send an established squad for the showjumping. The team is Scott Brash with Lady Pauline Kirkham and Lady Pauline Harris’s Hello M’Lady, Amanda Derbyshire with Gochman Sport Horse LLC’s Luibanta BH, Ben Maher with Poden Farms’ Explosion W, Laura Renwick with Arabella Prior’s Dublin V, and Holly Smith with her own and TJ Hall Ltd’s Hearts Destiny.

Meanwhile in the Dressage, Lottie Fry will make her first senior championship team appearance for Britain. She will ride alongside Olympic gold medallists Charlotte Dujardin and Carl Hester, as well as European and world team medallist Gareth Hughes. Charlotte will ride her 2018 World Equestrian Games (WEG) double bronze medallist Mount St John Freestyle, at her first European Championships since 2015. Carl Hester will also partner his WEG medallist; his own, Ann Cory and Anne Evans’ 11-year-old Diamond Hit son Hawtins Delicato. Gareth Hughes completes the quartet riding the 13-year-old Trento B mar Classic Briolinca, with whom he led Britain to victory in the Compiegne Nations Cup in May this year.

The FEI European Championships Eventing team is yet to be announced, but entries include Tina Cook with Elisabeth Murdoch’s 12-year-old gelding Billy The Red, Piggy French with Jayne Mcgivern’s 12-year-old gelding Quarrycrest Echo and Trevor Dickens’ 14-year-old mare Vanir Kamira, Pippa Funnell with her own and Marek Sebestak’s 12-year-old gelding Majas Hope, and Ben Hobday with Jane Chambers and his own nine-year-old chestnut gelding Shadow Man, to name a few.
