The celebrations are continuing at the yard of Sam Griffiths, following his win at the 2014Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials.

Top mare

Australian Sam and his 11-year-old mare Paulank Brockagh (Brocks) won the £80,000 first prize on Sunday (11 May) after a dramatic few days of competition. With each phase proving influential, the pair rose from 25th after the dressage, to fifth following a clear cross-country round, to finishing top of the leaderboard.

Brocks, who is owned by Dinah Posford and her daughter Juliet Carter, became the fourth mare in the history of the competition to win at Badminton, and the first since Headley Britannia in 2007.

Great riders

Sam lives near Gillingham on the Dorset and Somerset border with his British wife Lucy and 16-month-old son Ollie.

“The beautiful trophy has just arrived. It’s engraved with so many great riders, seeing Brocks and my name alongside them made it sink in what we’ve achieved, it’s a dream come true,” said Sam.
