Carl Hester: ‘This year the pressure will be on me’

Carl speaks about the 2017 European Championships and the pressure of replacing Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro as the fourth rider in the team.

Success breeds success

“It’s a healthy pressure and most of us thrive on it,” he says.

Carl also looks back on his first Europeans in 1991 and how different the expectations were back then. It was another 20 years before he won his first medal – and Carl hopes to bring back another for Britain this week.

“People would be devastated if we didn’t win a medal. I feel that and I want it for our country.”
