We love that Carl Hester always has time to chat – and he loves nothing more than talking about his horses.

Sound and happy

In this clip Carl reveals how he is looking forward to competing in his first World Cup Final in 12 years with Nip Tuck, and how relieved he is that Valegro retired sound, happy and at the top of his game.

With Charlotte away in Australia, Carl has been enjoying riding his old pal for the past three weeks.

Sports Personality

The dressage legend also talks about what it means to win the Channel Islands Sports Personality of the Year for a second time. Self-effacing, as always, Carl joked about finding out he had won at midnight, after a 3am start to compete at Jumping Amsterdam, in Holland.

“When they interviewed me via Skype I don’t think I looked much like a personality! I was half asleep!” he laughed.
