Bullied donkey finds friendship at Redwings

Heading image

A donkey in need of some like-minded companionship has been given a home with Redwings Horse Sanctuary.

Bullied

Pepper was signed over to the charity, after being bullied by the herd of horses she was living with. Although donkeys and horses are both equines, they are very different in terms of their needs and personalities.

Donkeys are easily stressed and form strong bonds with their own kind, which is why Peppers’ owner contacted Redwings for help.

New pals

The 17-year-old has gone to the charity’s Caldecott visitor centre near Great Yarmouth, where she has settled to her new life with Molly, Jemima and Ellie. As her confidence grows, Pepper will be gradually introduced to more donkey pals.

The donkey is also being attended to by the Redwings veterinary team to ensure any health issues are identified and and dealt with.
