BrightlingParkInternational Horse Trials has in excess of £7,000 prizemoney up for grabs, with £2,500 going to the winner of the CIC2*.

Efforts rewarded

Equine insurance specialist Amlin Plus has stumped up the cash in response to the recent debate about the poor prize money on offer in eventing.

“Having event horses myself, and speaking regularly with riders and owners, I think it is near impossible for a professional rider to actually make a reasonable living in the sport nowadays, other than through horse dealing.” said David Ashby, managing director of Amlin Plus.

“Hopefully this sponsorship will ensure a good number of starters, and that the winner will feel their efforts have been rewarded properly.”

Brilliant news

The event in East Sussex (12 – 13 July) regularly attracts more than 400 entries from all over the world, including Olympians Mark Todd, Pippa Funnell, Tina Cook and Zara Phillips.

Sir Mark said it is “brilliant news” that the event is offering decent money for the CIC2* class.

“It is hard to get sponsorship at the moment so great effort fromBrightlingPark to secure this support and I am sure riders will support the class,” he said.
