Andrew Hoy gets new ride on four-star horse
Andrew Hoy has taken on the ride on Algebra – a four-star horse previously produced and competed by fellow Aussie Natalie Blundell.
Step down
Natalie and Algebra came to the UK in April 2014 to compete in their first Badminton and train at Andrew’s yard in Leicestershire.
With his help they achieved their best result, coming 13th at CCI4* Luhmühlen. It was then decided Alegbra should step down from top level sport to become a schoolmaster, and his career with Natalie came to an end.
However, when Algebra’s Australian owners John Glenn and Julia McLean were unable to find a suitable new home for the horse they asked Andrew to take over the ride.
One more year
“As Andrew kept him in training for us during this period of time we discovered how well he and Algebra got on,” said John.”As Algebra still feels very fresh and enjoys his daily training we decided, together with Andrew, to give him one more year at the top level.
“We would like to aim him at CCI4* Luhmühlen as a highlight of 2015 and will then make further decisions at the end of this season. My wife and I both love Algebra dearly – so he might return to our farm in Australia.”
