Steve Guerdat gave an exclusive interview prior to CHI Geneva, where he will be competing in the Rolex Grand Prix and the Rolex IJRC Top Ten Final, which you can watch LIVE on H&C.

‘Goosebumps’

Steve has been coming to Geneva show since he was a small boy, and he spoke about why the show is so special to him.

“It gives me goosebumps every time I get into the ring,” Steve said. “I still feel like a little child when I come here.”

The Swiss rider has won the Grand Prix on home turf three times, and also took the title in the prestigious Rolex IJRC Top Ten Final in 2010. He has enjoyed a great season and his horses are on top form, so can he achieve a fourth Grand Prix win this Sunday?

‘Major goal’

“Those moments are the ones we aim for,” said the 35-year-old. “It’s one of my major goals of the year, so I’m really looking forward to it and I will be very motivated for Sunday.”

If Steve does win the Grand Prix, he not only will become the first rider in history to take the title four times, but he will be a contender for the Rolex Grand Slam.

The Grand Slam awards a €1m bonus to any rider that can consecutively win three Majors at Geneva,`s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands, Aachen in Germany, or Spruce Meadows in Canada.
