Jemma Millman has retained the Osborne Refrigerators Double Harness Scurry of the Year title at HOYS.

Six-time winner Jemma was victorious with her large pair of ponies, Piglet & Eeyore, racing round the course of cones in a time of 47.39sec.

Jemma and fellow scurry driver Alison Tucker had been neck and neck all week at HOYS during the heats, and in the final less than a second separated the two.

Alison finished on 47.88 seconds with her large pair, Chip ‘n’ Dale, with Jemma in third again with her small pair, Tigger & Owl (51.31sec).

“I knew Alison would be quick behind me. We tried to leave a little fuel in the tank yesterday,” said Jemma. “They were amazing; they ran their little hearts out and did everything I asked of them.”

The run up to HOYS had not been straightforward for Jemma and the 17- and 18-year-old full brother and sister Piglet & Eeyore.

“It was still undecided recently if Eeyore would be coming to HOYS,” Jemma explained. “He was diagnosed with laminitis in March and we then found out it was Cushings so we’ve been trying to get him back to fitness. My sister has been an amazing help, as has the support of our farrier and vet.”
