Young British reiner through to final at WEG

British reiner Josh Collins finished third today in the individual qualifying competition, securing his ticket to Saturday night’s grand final.

The 24-year-old Kent-based rider is an amateur rider, combining his competitive schedule alongside working at his family jewellery business. Having finished as the best of the Brits in the team competition in 20th place, today he finished in third place withSpook A Little.

“Being able to represent my country here has been my dream and my goal since the beginning of the year,” said Josh. “My horse was amazing today and I am very proud of being in the individual final.”

The top 15 horse and rider combinations from the team competition automatically qualified for this weekend’s final, while another 23 had a second chance to qualify in today’s competition.

The highest score came from today’s penultimate competitor, Troy Heikes from the USA. Riding Lil Gun Dunit, an eight-year-old stallion, Troy closed his run with a score of 220. His result means the USA will have all their athletes competing for the individual medals on Saturday.
