Showjumper Yazmin Pinchen takes a trip to the Ebony Horse Club in Brixton, and gets into the Christmas spirit with a visit to Winter Wonderland…

“Hi everyone,

Hope you’re all getting as excited for Christmas as I am! It’s my favorite time of the year. Having said that, I have not got any presents sorted yet, I’m completely lacking organisation. My family have got our Christmas tree up now and it’s looking great, just need to get some gifts to go underneath it!

In my defence, I’ve been very busy lately, and not just with riding. I went to Brixton last week to meet the team at the Ebony Horse Club. This charity gives young people growing up in some of the most disadvantaged communities in south London the chance to learn riding and horse care, and teaches them the responsibility of looking after animals. Everyone was so welcoming when I arrived, I had a tour of the stables and met the kids who were having lessons. The smiles on their faces were enormous. I watched them do ‘around the world’ competitions, which took me right back to my Pony Club days. They were having such fun.

I am now auctioning off the Olympic bracelet that myself and the Burnished Horse Hair company created from the tail hairs of the four gold medal winning horses at London 2012 in aid of the Ebony Horse Club. I can’t wait to raise as much money as possible for such a great cause, so please all get bidding, it would make someone a lovely Christmas present.

I’ve also been busy doing lots of teaching recently, which I really enjoy. I went to a junior show on the weekend – it’s been a long time since I was at a pony show but it was good to see some great up and coming riders in the making.

On Saturday night me and one of my closest friends went to Winter Wonderland in London. It is amazing up there, I go every year and it gets better and better each time. If you can’t get into the Christmas spirit I’d definitely recommend a trip there. We spent all evening in the Bavaraian village dancing to Bob Marley! I’m now taking my parents there next week because I know us Pinchens will have a great time.

I’ve got to get packing now, I am off to La Coruna this weekend for the five star show there. I’ve got Van de Vivaldi and Dominant H for the show, can’t wait to get back into the saddle. Fingers crossed. Keep an eye out on my social media pages this weekend for updates and results.

If I don’t speak to you all before, have an amazing Christmas. I hope you all get spoilt!”
