Four horses from the Household Cavalry got loose while out hacking in Hyde Park and galloped around the London tourist spot for more than an hour.

Spooked

The horses were spooked during their early morning training which caused them to bolt. Westminster Metropolitan Police tweeted: “Four military horses have run loose in Hyde Park!”

The Met Police were then called in to help round them up which took more than one hour.

“Thankfully the horses are back safe and sound” Westminster MPS tweeted after the event. “Many thanks to the officers that dealt with the incident. End of a night shift.”

‘Normal duties’

An army spokesperson told H&C: “We can confirm that a number of horses became detached during a routine morning horse exercising session.

“All horses have been accounted for and the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment has returned to normal duties.”
