Hazel Shannon wins by a margin in Adelaide four-star

Australia’s Hazel Shannon enjoyed a definitive victory on home turf at the Australian International 3 Day Event in Adelaide.

Riding the Thoroughbred gelding Clifford, Shannon finished a clear 14.5pen ahead of her nearest rival. They added only 0.4 time pen to their dressage score.

“He is not extravagant in any phase – he just does his job and I can’t ask for more than that,” said Hazel. “There is a huge amount of training that has gone into Clifford, but his temperament is such that he allows you to train him. It is not just about raw talent, it is the heart and the mind of the horse that matters and this was just another day at the office for Clifford. He keeps trying and trying, and getting better and better.”

Will Enzinger took second place and fourth place, with Andrew Cooper slotting in between in third. Australian riders took the top nine placings at the only Southern Hemisphere four-star, which is held within the city of Adelaide itself.
