World’s best Hanoverian stallions come to H&C

Hanoverian stallions are among the most successful in the world – and the most beautiful – producing top talent in dressage, showjumping and eventing. You can watch the cream of the crop, right here on H&C in a new show.

Future champions

The Hanoverian Stallion Show gathers together the best German stallions at the Hanoverian headquarters in Verden, Germany. It provides an opportunity for breeders, from all around the world, to find the stallion that will help them produce a future champion.

After meeting the stallions in their stable they get to see them perform in the sold-out indoor arena.

First up at this year’s show was Germany’s team European and World Champion Helen Langehanenberg, riding the Grand Prix stallion Damsey. Other top horses included Loveless, whose sire Lord Z was a big winner under John Whitaker, and Fire and Ice, grandson of the legend For Pleasure who won two Olympic golds. Just seven years old the young stallion is already competing in 1.45 classes.

Young guns

One of our favourites at the show was the diminutive stallion Scenario, who stands at just 15.2hh. Small on size but big on results, he is one of Hanover’s most successful stallions in the showjumping programme’s breeding statistics.

As well as the older, proven stallions the show features a number of ‘young guns’ just starting their career in breeding.

H&C’s German presenter Jan Tönjes was at the show and brings you all the action.

Catch the Hanoverian Stallion Show 2017 on 28 April 7pm on Sky 253, or you can watch online by subscribing to H&C Play.
