Adorable donkey foal arrives at Redwings: ‘We are smitten’

This donkey foal is possibly the cutest thing we’ve seen all year. Okay, so it’s only February, but Amos really is adorable.

‘Absolutely smitten’

Amos and his mum and dad, Matilda and Jeremiah, were brought into Redwings Sanctuary, as their owner was struggling with their care due to ill health. Just two-weeks old, Amos is so tiny he had to be carried from the horsebox to his stable.

The family have quickly settled into their new home and will remain under the watchful eye of Redwings’ veterinary and equine care teams at their headquarters for the next few months. Amos has even been treated to a new (very tiny) rug, to keep him cosy on chilly nights.

Lynn Cutress, Redwings’ chief executive, said: “We are absolutely smitten with Amos. He is only the fifth donkey foal to arrive at the Sanctuary in the past ten years so to say his arrival has caused a lot of excitement would be an understatement!”

Home for life

The gorgeous trio have a home for life at Redwings and it is hoped they will be able to join a donkey herd at one of the charity’s visitor centres in the future.

“It is thanks to the generosity of our supporters that we are able to provide a home for all three donkeys,” said Lynn. “We would welcome anyone who wishes to support us in their on-going care and help Amos grow into a happy and healthy donkey to visit our website or call us to make a donation.”
