Can you give a cob a job?

The Blue Cross charity is celebrating cobs this week (14-20 November) by showcasing their versatility and potential as riding animals.

Members of the public are invited to join in by sharing pictures online of their cobs using the hashtag #giveacobajob.

Blue Cross rehoming centres can also be contacted directly to find out about the cobs in need of a deserving home.

The charity has seen a significant rise in neglected cobs in recent years and they hope this week will encourage horse lovers to give these horses a second chance.

“So often under all that hair is a superstar in the making, so please take a look at our rehoming page and #giveacobajob,” said Jenna Martyn, Rehoming Manager at Blue Cross Burford.

The striking piebald mare Honeydew (pictured below) is just one of the many success stories that have come from rehoming a cob.

Rescued from a life of neglect and cruelty, Honeydew is now excelling in the dressage ring with owner Sally-Ann Hammill. The pair achieved an impressive score of 74.35% to win at the Sunshine Tour Championships at Hickstead this year.

“I am totally delighted to have this loyal and talented little mare and am looking forward to moving up the dressage levels with her and going showing next year,” said Sally-Ann.
