Bad news for Big Star fans – the stallion has picked up an injury and will miss the rest of this year.

He was due to compete in this weekend’s CHI Geneva, where Nick Skelton was hoping to win the Rolex Grand Prix.

The popular pair, who won Olympic gold in Rio this summer, will also miss out on competing at Olympia – though it is hoped they will still parade along with the other Olympic medallists.

According to reports, the stallion’s injury is relatively minor, and it is hoped that he will return to jumping in the new year.

British hopes in the Rolex Grand Prix now lie with Scott Brash. As the current live contender for the Rolex Grand Slam, Scott is aiming to win his second Geneva title – and if he can do it, he’ll be one step closer to another €1m bonus.

Scott will also be competing in the Rolex IJRC Top 10 final, where the world’s top ranked riders compete for this highly-prestigious title. The action will be shown live at 9pm on Friday 9 December, exclusively on Horse & Country.
